Training Overview

We believe that it’s important for a qigong teachers to have a high enough level of gong fu (attainment within the practice) to understand the true nature of the practice, while also possessing the skills needed to make the practice accessible, interesting and transformative to a broad range of clients.

Traditional methods tended to favour building the gong fu to a point of understanding without passing on the more subtle teaching skills, while the more modern, western approaches to teaching qigong tend to bypass the need for a deep understanding of the practice. Neither approach is particularly effective in a modern western world and this is why we have developed our course using the structure outlined below.

Based on the 200 hour model that has proved so popular in the world of Yoga, our training is designed to develop your gong fu to a suitable level to start teaching independently while providing solid foundation in:

  • Chinese Medicine, Culture and Philosophy
  • Teaching Methodologies and Safe Practice
  • Working as a successful, self-employed qigong teacher

Common Core

Working with our partners at the University of Wales Trinity St David, the Common Core is the academic core of the training.

From the practicalities and most effective techniques of running qigong classes as a self-employed qigong teacher, to developing a basic understanding of Chinese Medicine, Chinese philosophy and anatomy and physiology, the core module develops a solid foundation from which to teach regardless of your chosen style of qigong.

With a minimum of 100 hours contact time, you will in all likelihood need to allocate twice this amount of time for personal reflection, qigong practice and developing and delivering your own teaching material.

Specialist Training

Building on the common core, the specialist training offers a series of different specialisms from which to start your qigong teaching. Whether you are on a path with Zhineng Qigong or Shaolin Cosmos Qigong, we offer you training with the most experienced teachers available in the UK.

Each of the specialist training modules is a stand alone program focussing on a specific aspect of qigong. For the purposes of the initial training, we ask you to complete one of the longer (100 hour) programmes, but you are then free to engage in additional specialist training in order to broaden understanding of your chosen form, or develop specialist skills such as working with people with a Parkinson’s diagnosis.

If you’re qigong experience is with another style of qigong, or if you have significant experience in either Shaolin Cosmos or Zhineng, please let us know. We are always happy to discuss prior learning and how this would work alongside the Common Core without the need for additional Specialist Training.

Blended Learning

While the online space has it’s limitations, it’s benefits are undeniable. It has become the glue that holds us together as a community and, as a result, we embrace it within our training.

As well engaging with your peers and a range of other qigong teachers, we use the online space to offer pre-recorded and live lectures, there are regular online practice sessions and we also use online tools for ongoing mentoring and support.

For the in-person training, we ask you to commit 3 weekends to us for the Common Core and typically the 100 hour Specialist Training will require two face to face, residential training sessions.

Location

The Common Core training will take place at the University of Wales’s Campus in Swansea while the Specialist Training will vary.

Dates

Core Training will start on the weekend f the 16th/17th September 2023

Dates for Specialist Training will be released soon.

Benefits of Teaching Qigong

Growing Demand for Qigong

It has been said that Qigong is fast becoming the new yoga. Of course, both Qigong and yoga have existed for thousands of years, so neither is new. However, as people look for efficient ways to deal with growing pressures and improve their health and happiness, Qigong is fast being re-discovered, and there is a growing demand for quality teachers.

Work you Enjoy

Many people are looking for ways to ‘step off’ the rat race and find something enjoyable and meaningful to do for work. Qigong not only reduces your stress as you teach, but it also helps others achieve the same. As a qigong teacher, you will help others live healthier and happier lives.

Freedom

No more being tied to a desk or long hours of work. As a qigong teacher, you can choose when and where to work. Online teaching is a growing business if you want to work from home, or you may prefer to develop in-person classes to help individuals, schools, sports clubs or businesses. The possibilities are endless. You have the freedom to choose.

Increased Income

If you like being your own boss, working when you want and taking charge of your income, then becoming a Qigong Teacher is a good way forward. Classes for Qigong usually range from £10-£25 per person per class, depending on your market. Class sizes average between 10 to 20 people. Of course, you don’t need to limit the number of people you teach.

Exciting Career Opportunities

Qigong provides a fabulous passport. Since becoming Qigong teachers, we have travelled the world sharing the wonders of Qigong. Qigong is relevant and accessible for most people looking to improve themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically or spiritually. You can use your existing skills and life experiences to create meaningful and exciting classes that support and transform lives wherever you work. You’ll be the boss, so you can live on your terms.

Positive Peer Group

Qigong is not just a practice; it is a way of life. As a Qigong Teacher, we encourage you to adopt qigong principles into everything you do. As a result, your life will transform. We also appreciate that not everyone you know will be on the same path as you, which can present challenges. As passionate qigong practitioners, we will help bring your best to the world and situations.
